Dog Show a huge success!

On the 29th February DotDot partnered Langlands Garden Centre to host a Dog Show and Pet Craft Fair. The event was a great success (that busy we caused a stop to the traffic blocking the coastal roads!) A huge 171 dogs entered and a total of £604.00 was raised for all the animals in need at Hull Animal Welfare Trust…a massive community high five!

Judges from Wicstun Veterinary Group and Holly Barker from Hull Animal Welfare Trust had THE hardest task choosing their winners, here’s a few more facts about the Dog Show:

  • We had 171 dogs entered! And there were lots more just watching.
  • There were 52 dogs entered in the ‘cutest pup’ class!
  • 46 dogs entered the ‘Most handsome chap’.
  • In the ‘golden oldies’ category our oldest participant was a wonderful 17yrs young!
  • Of the 28 rescue dogs, each and every one told their story to our judges to help them pick a winner based on the background and how far that dog had come: it wasn’t on appearance alone (very emotional!)
  • We had 32 ‘prettiest bitches’ strutting their stuff in the ring... the winner was a whippet called Blue.
  • The young handlers (all 26 of them) were amazing and kept all the dogs under control!
Each child got to take home a little treat as they left the ring.
  • The Jarbola stall, which had more than 50% donations from the amazing clients of the #DotDotFamily raised £203.
  • The total we raised (£604) was just from the dog show entries & Jarbola. Not a bad amount for such small costs to participate!
  • It was Langlands first ever dog show.
  • It’s the 2nd time we have welcomed Wicstun Vets to help judge our dog shows!
  • New business partnerships were formed yesterday between Langlands and a local start up business
Market Weighton hedgehogs made excellent community links and even found a provider for sourcing some free hedgehog food in the future.
  • New businesses who have never attended a public event made their debut yesterday and existing local businesses continued to prove that handmade is better (and often cheaper!)

Thank you to all who supported and attended on the day, especially those who helped behind the scenes, stall holders, volunteers and every single one of you who entered the dog show. We genuinely wish every single dog and handler could have had a rosette- they did each and every owner proud! We all love our dogs like our babies and it was evident just how much a pet truly is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Finally, a huge thanks to Langlands for allowing us to use their venue.
